The Travelling Dress Collective || North Queensland Photography
Nine photographers. One dress. Nine different stories, nine different visions. One amazing and breathtaking project. The rules: each photographer had one week to photograph the dress however they chose and no one could share any of the images until after the last person was finished (so not to mess with another's vision).
The dress, stunning with its lace detailing and pearl beads was kindly donated to us by Purity Lace Designs . It's journey began in Victoria with Julie Guertin who used film to nostalgically capture the dress in a childhood memory. It then made it's way to Melissa Brown in South Australia who's location and vision of the dress will dance their way into your hearts. From SA the dress continued west to meet up with Krystle Ricci in Western Australia, who changed my opinion of studio photos and created a timeless elegance. I was next as the dress ventured back East to North Queensland. After leaving the Northern part of the state it went South to Peta Hood and I promise you Peta's black and white images will stir all kinds of emotions and are worth everything. It was then time for the dress to travel internationally as it crossed the ocean to New Zealand and be photographed by Olga Levien, the moments she captured with such a beautiful couple are breathtaking, and that's not even taking into account the location! After a short stint in NZ, it was back to Oz and on to New South Wales to catch up with the talented Helen Whittle. Helen has been a favourite of mine for a very long time, it was great to collaborate with her on this project and her photos show another spectacular part of this country. After such a long journey around, it was time to head back to Victoria to meet up with the last two photographers Danielle Dobson and Fran Jorgensen both of whom made magic by the ocean.
This was an extraordinary project to be apart of. After much waiting I am finally glad to be able to share my images. I had no one else at the time to photograph and while I wasn't what I initially had planned. I was all I had, so yes, these are self portraits (I did have help from my 7 year old human button pusher - thank you Robert).
Make sure you scroll to the bottom to catch a glimpse of what the others created and check out more of Purity Lace Designs (it's all beautiful, they even have stuff for kids).
This is my time spent with this stunning garment, I hope you enjoy and leave me a comment below to tell me what you think.
Continue on for a glimpse of what everyone else created, it truly is a thing of beauty.
