Jacinta + Thomas || A Malanda Engagement

The number of times we have tried to do this engagement session was starting to get ridiculous, so even when the weather chose not to co-operate, we went ahead anyway. After all being native to the Atherton Tablelands, drizzly weather is something that Jacinta and Thomas are more than used to.

This was my first session of 2020, in September mind you and after having had so much time to grow and reflect as an artist and person I felt a great deal of pressure to make it my best, self inflicted pressure that is. This session was to be the one that showed the world that I had not squandered my time in isolation binge watching Jane the Virgin (or something else equally enlightening). So while all of this bounced incessantly around in my mind, on the outside I felt myself fumbling and showing my most awkward self.

But apart from all of this, Jacinta and Thomas made me feel like I had found friends. Their easy going, welcoming nature quickly dissipated my nerves and as a lot has been happening this year we naturally found a lot to catch up on. I’ve been emailing with Jacinta since 2019 (which seems like forever ago) as they were set to be married in September this year, now postponed for another 12 months. It was wonderful to finally meet her and put a face and personality to those emails.

Jacinta and Thomas are not quite high school sweethearts but very close, as they used to travel to school together on the bus. After a few years as friends there was the opportunity to explore the relationship further and seeing as we are on the cusp of marriage it clearly worked out well.

I very much look forward to being apart of Jacinta and Thomas’ wedding next year. The stress of planning a wedding was only amplified for them thanks to Covid-19 but I have no doubt that when the day arrives it will be worth the wait.

To Jacinta + Thomas,
Finally we got to meet! It was a long time coming but well worth the wait. You both photograph beautifully and make my job exceptionally easy but more then that you are wonderful people who I relished spending the afternoon with. I look forward to September 2021 when we get to hang out again.
Thank you for trusting me with these moments in time
X
