Emily || An Ayr Mother

On a recent trip to Townsville we continued south to Ayr and this is where I was warmly welcomed into the home of Emily and her two, soon to be, three children for a beautiful motherhood session.

I highly recommend you book in for a shoot like this, and yes I’m aware I could be a bit biased. There is no pressure, there is no stress about what to wear or where to go and the water gives enough distraction that your nerves are settled. It also calls for your pretty special photos that show nothing but love and connection.

Hayley + Kids || A Cairns Family

Through sudden and unexpected changes in Hayley and the kid’s lives she has come to understand the importance of photographs and memories. Both kids are in their early teenage years so I understand their apprehension in wanting to join along with Mum’s requests but as I look through these photos now I know that given time they will also understand the investment that has been made.

Cheriese + Boys || A Townsville Family

I am pretty certain that there could be no better location. Cheriese and her three boys spent the day revelling in the spring time warmth at Alma Bay, soaking up the joys of salt water and sand. It was early afternoon when I joined them and the bay was mostly ours, the sea breeze cool and refreshing and the sun rays warm and golden. We climbed rocks and explored their hidden secrets. There were many cuddles and much love shared. I learned of a mother’s love that would move mountains and raise glorious men. The boys outwardly showed that photos were not their thing but occasionally through this facade I would glimpse the excitement of being up to record their mother’s memories*.

Pip + Ben || Townsville Maternity

After meeting in high school and then spending the last 15 years adventuring together this pair decided to begin a new chapter of their lives and give their worshipped pooch a friend. Then Covid-19 hit and as they witnessed the chaos the world tumbled into, Pip and Ben agreed that maybe this was not the best time to create new life, however, as fate would have it this baby had already chosen them. So here we are, 30 weeks later and into their most memorable year to date.

Jacinta + Thomas || A Malanda Engagement

The number of times we have tried to do this engagement session was starting to get ridiculous, so even when the weather chose not to co-operate, we went ahead anyway. After all being native to the Atherton Tablelands, drizzly weather is something that Jacinta and Thomas are more than used to.

2019 || A Year that Was...

I’ve been quite for the last few months because I needed that time for myself, for my family, for the life we are building and because of all that has been happening through out the year. Now that January is over I feel like 2020 can really begin, that I can sink my teeth back in and no longer can I have a drink at 2pm and claim “it’s the festive season”. So even though I technically missed the start of the new calendar year and every has moved into the new, I would love to recap with my favourite images from the previous 12 months.

Terry Family || A Nebo Family || Townsville Family Photographer

I’ve known Renee my whole life, you see she is one of my younger cousins. I’ve seen her grown through many different stages and most recently into the gorgeous mother that she is. But through it all I have never had the privilege of capturing her family, I have taken photos of her eldest but she sneakily snuck out of those ones. On my most recent trip to Townsville the stars aligned, our dates overlapped (her family lives in Nebo) and she wanted to update her family photos … cue happy dance!

Kirstin + Bennett || A Townsville Couple || Townsville Couple Photographer

Back in February when Townsville was getting it’s fair share of rain I joined with a number of other local photographers to bring a little light into the lives of those affected. I (being myself) wanted to do it a little differently and instead of giving a photo session to those who had been displaced due to flooding, I gave mine to those who gave up their homes and took in family and friends. These people were nominated by strangers and loved ones and even though it’s just something you do in a time of crisis, it goes to show what big beautiful hearts they have.

Marrington Family || A Townsville Family || Townsville Family Photographer

Celeste booked this session for her family earlier in the year after they had to leave their home because of the Townsville floods. She was unsure how long it would be before they would be able to move back in but she knew when they did that she would like to celebrate with an in-home session. I’m not sure about you but I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate.

Finney Family || A Seaford Family || Seaford Family Photographer

Last week I was in Melbourne and in true Melbourne fashion, I was freezing! I am home and now and as is normal in North Queensland at this time of year, I am sweltering and waiting for first storms to roll in.

I could not be more grateful for the weather because the in-home shots are some of my most favourite and the kids claimed that cuddles on the couch was the best part. By the end the rain had stoped, though the skies were still grey and armed with an umbrella we headed to the family’s local Seaford beach. In short, it was spectacular
